Branding Design & Photography: Burton Roadhouse, Burton, Texas

Burton Roadhouse, set to open Saturday, September 10, 2016:

Stephen and Melissa Russell, dear friends of my parents, are now the new owners of a live music venue in Burton, Texas, called Burton Roadhouse.  When they requested brand design services, I was very elated.  This is a first.  Not only did I do the logo, I also did the following: Website, Postcards, Banner, Exterior/Interior Photography and Food Photography.  It was an honor to do the work for a wonderful couple who have dedicated their time supporting live music by hosting house concerts for the past several years. And this time, in a great building across the street from an old but charming train station.

Logo Work:

It didn't take long for the Russells to decide on the official logo out of about 8 options. Since it's a nighttime music venue and there would be a music stage, black and white would be it.  And I wanted to keep it simple.  They were very pleased with it.

Website Work:

Not long after their logo design request, the Russells wanted me to create a website for them.  I used the Squarespace platform so they can edit content on their own (adding events to the website calendar and such).  Again, this is a nighttime music venue, I wanted to give it a little bit of the Texas nighttime rustic look and feel. They were really pleased, but had one more request to complete the website: a map of Texas showing where the bar is (the bird on the map).  And it was then good to go!

Just a little piece of direct mail I created to let everyone know of Burton Roadhouse's upcoming grand opening.

Photography: Food

After 10 years of working as a graphic designer in the restaurant industry and attending numerous photo sessions of our menu items, I was given the opportunity to take photos of the Burton Roadhouse menu with my husband Charles assisting.  Burton Roadhouse had a private party and their chef Tyler Boling whipped up a few menu items for us to take photos of and enjoy, as well.  The bartenders also created a few drinks for the guests who were wonderful by volunteering them for the photo shoot.  Lots of different drinks makes for a wonderful photo, indeed.  The pizzas, paninis, dips and salad were very delicious!

Photography: Exterior & Interior

Prior to taking photos of the food, I did some exterior and interior shots to create some fill art for the website and possible printed pieces in the future.  I truly love the menagerie of textures inside this amazing building.

Photography: Music and Bar Areas

This is a great story.  Friends of Melissa and Steve poured their hearts out into forming Burton Roadhouse to what it is today.  They built a stage for the musical performers, created a bar out of bowling alley wood, painted, cleaned and prepped everything in time for the grand opening.  They did an amazing job!

I am very grateful to the Russells for an incredible opportunity to utilize both of my skills: Graphic Design and Photography.  It's been a great experience!

If you're wanting to kick back, hear some wonderful music, savor refreshing beverages and delicious food, be sure to stop by Burton Roadhouse this Saturday, September 10th!

PHOTO GALLERY: Newborn to 6 Months • 2010-2016

Wanted to share a few photos of sweet babies aged 5 days to 6 months taken over the past few years. We hardly use any props/decor - we simply use blankets and pillows (to help prop the infants up). Client-provided props can be used in photos; however, I do mostly lifestyle photoshoots, where the setting is natural, and photos are taken at your own home. To book with us or have a question about Newborn Photoshoots, please email kerri@kerriclarkdesigns.com or you can fill out the form here.

Sarah & Nicholas Gonatas • The Greenbranch, Bryan, Texas • May 28, 2016

My little cousin Sarah got married!  I never thought she'd ask me to document her special day. I was a proud big cousin that day.  Not only did I take engagement, bridal and wedding photos, I designed her wedding invitation set, program fans, table cards, name cards and party favor tags.  Yes, you read that right - I contributed quite a bit to making her wedding so lovely.  I was more than happy to do it for the newlyweds. Congratulations Sarah and Nick, welcome to the family!  - Kerri

Blanka + Deanna • Hanalei Bay, Kauai, Hawai'i + Winfrey Point, Dallas, TX • 2015

Charles and I were at a friend's wedding reception enjoying ourselves when I suddenly got a text from Blanka: "Will you be honored to be our wedding photographer? In Hawaii?"  We couldn't believe it.

A wedding...in HAWAII???

Oh YES.

That was a year before their wedding.  Shortly after, we took pics of their engagement in Kemah, TX.  Then May 8, 2015 was here before we knew it.  Hanalei Bay was just perfect.  We loved touring Kauai so much.  It was one of the best vacations we've had, and as an added bonus, we got to work a wedding there.

It was a great wedding and we were able to capture the special moment from all angles - after all, we all stood on the sand, witnessing a special moment between our friends, Blanka and Deanna.  It could not be any more perfect.

Flash forward to August 8th, their reception was held at Winfrey Point in Dallas, TX.  It was a huge blast, seeing friends and making new ones.  These brides definitely know how to PARTY.

Here are just a few photos (okay, more than a few) for you to enjoy - HOWEVER, there are tons more here: http://kerriclarkdesigns.shootproof.com/gallery/CarrizalesHawaiianWedding

ENJOY!! - KCD
